NHL.com – November 20, 2018 – Updated Nov. 20, 2019The United States has not had a satellite orbiting the Earth since the 1980s, but there is one in orbit now.NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope is scheduled to launch next year.
It will carry a wide array of scientific instruments and will help determine if there are life on other planets.NASA has already announced that the satellite is due to be launched by the end of 2020, which would make the first of Webb’s 14 instruments ready for launch in 2019.
But this is not a big deal because it is expected that the telescope will only be used for detecting planets beyond our solar system, not finding life on them.
NASA said it will not launch any more satellites that orbit the Earth.
It also has to be done properly because NASA said the spacecraft is not designed to be re-used, even if the telescope itself is used for the search for life elsewhere.NASA said in a news release that the launch window will end on December 21.
