Google exec David Marcus has told Recode that Facebook wont go into the satellite dish market as part of a new venture.
Marcus, who is heading up the company’s new hardware and services unit, also said hes not a fan of Apple and Amazon as competitors.
Marcus told RecODE that Facebook is focused on building out its hardware and that the company is not interested in competing with Google, which owns Google.
Marcus also said the companys focus is on building its software, which he says is better than Googles, and said that Facebook wants to be a leader in that space.
As for Facebook’s future in the business, Marcus said it is not for now.
He said Facebook is not focusing on an iPhone 8 or an Android phone, saying it is focused instead on building a product and service that can serve its users better.
Facebook will continue to invest in its hardware as it develops new products and services, Marcus added.
The executive also said that the Google and Apple businesses will not compete with each other in the satellite chip market.
Recode previously reported that Marcus and his team will be moving into the technology space.
